| 6622832658 | Called twice today. First call was a hang up call. I spoke with him 2nd time he called. He mumbled the co. name( or never said it) & his own name & was difficult to understand. But I did get the gist of the call . It was going to be all about computers and money . He went on to say he'd called to advise he knew ???? I'd bought a virus protection plan for my computer & it was no longer any good as co. providing it weren't protecting any longer, so he wanted to give me a refund of the virus protection cost. Mumbled the amount. I asked HOW MUCH I'd paid for the now useless plan? He said $ 199.00. I said that was so kind of him. He said not to thank him as it was through the goodness of the co. I would get the refund. Still absolutely no mention of the Company's name with the defunct virus protection, & no name for the man who called me or the company he was working for. I kept this caller on the line as long as I could, pretending to be elderly & confused & grateful & happy about all this $$$$ until he got to the part where I was instructed to go to my computer & turn it on so he could proceed to "'HELP" me. I figured I'd had enough fun by that time & told him I didn't have a computer. He apologized & hung up. Folks ---- I think these callers are criminals who aim for access to your computer, or your bank account or your credit card details. Play with them as long as you can, if you feel up to it, as the longer you keep them on the telephone the less time they have to try and scam others. But do not give them any details about yourself Nothing In fact best if you lie through your teeth. I Repeat ---- I think they belong in jail & r criminals. I don't believe we should be obliged to be courteous to criminals. However they are ultra courteous if they think you are stupid enough to fall for their lines. |

| 02075511333 | Further to my earlier comment, this is DEFINITELY A SCAM. I got another call at 13.55hrs - just half an hour after the previous one. I take back my earlier comment about the man sounding Chinese - they're definitely Asian (Indian or Pakistani). This guy also claimed he was calling from BT Openreach and was trying to tell me there was a problem with my internet and he could fix it for me, and if I didn't let him fix it, I'd have more problems in a couple of days (I should mention that his indigenous accent was SO thick that I could barely understand a word he was saying). In response to his question, I told him I didn't know what colour light was flashing on my router box because it was in a different room. I also told him that there was no problem with my internet - and nor had there been - and it was working perfectly. This still didn't stop him talking so I strung him along for about 3 minutes - just for the sheer hell of it - and then told him that, in the UK we are well aware of Asian call-centre "hot houses" who phone us and pretend to be someone they're not in order to extort money. He finally hung up with, surprisingly, not another word! LOLOLOLOLOL! ;) |
